About the Show

The Fair, now in its 27th year, is the major fund raising event for the village of Yardley Hastings in Northamptonshire and its community organisations. Proceeds from recent Fairs have helped to support, amongst others, an extension and new furnishing and equipment at the village school, the refurbishment of the Committee Room and provision of new chairs at the village’s Memorial Hall and the conservation and management of a small woodland area for community use. In addition local and national charities, including Guide Dogs for the Blind, Six Counties Kidney Patients Association, RAF Association and Lions and Rotary Clubs also benefit from the Fair, raising money for their own causes.

Attractions at this year’s show will include over 100 stands; a craft fair; falconry; dog, ferret, terrier, lurcher, rabbit and cavy shows; show jumping; clay shoot competitions and muzzleloaders; shooting clinic; cookery demonstration; fly casting; vintage and classic vehicles; gundog events; off road course; Farmers’ Market; Regional Food Area; rural crafts; Young Farmers, archery and crossbow areas, helicopter and trailer rides; a Petting Zoo; the Farmyard Experience; model boats and aircraft, Territorial Army Display and rescued animals.

If you'd rather sit and watch than have a go, there's over 6 hours of Main Arena events including falconry, Jez Avery’s mountain bike display, a prison dog team display, pig and sheep racing, a grand parade of classic and vintage vehicles, Suffolk Punch heavy horse display and a lorry pull challenge.

There's a chance to try your hand at archery, casting or clay shooting; take an off-road course, see the craftsmen at work in the Craft Fair; learn about badgers, bees and butterflies, visit the plant society stands, listen to the brass band or fairground organ or just wander around over 100 trade stands and the Farmers’ Market and Regional Food Area.

The Fair is a real family day out with plenty for the children including fairground rides, inflatables, quads, climbing wall, paintball, crossbows, archery and a free programme of magic and Punch and Judy shows running through out the day. If, after all that, you need refreshing, there’s a wide range of licensed catering to suit all tastes from the exotic to traditional teas.

Opening at 9.30am and running to 6.00pm admission to the Fair is £7.00 adults, £5 OAPs and £3 school children. Car parking is free and dogs are welcome on leads. For further information call (01604) 696521 or e mail info@castleashbycountryfair.co.uk.
